Heya, hope you’ve got your coffee🤩🤩…. Hot!!! This PDP session has been the best so far. The online session was very engaging and informative. I completely lost track of my best friend, ‘’Time’’ 😅. It started with a few technical issues here and there, trying to get over 20 students logged in but finally we were ready and rolling. A quick PSA (Public Service Announcement😂) and discussion by Frances followed after which we were randomly allocated to groups. I was in group six with one recurring member from PDP 1.0. I was excited because this was a great opportunity to spread my network and interact with more students #Global Citizen. I chaired this session again #confidence #responsible leadership😎 haha and we started off with a quick intro and a reflection of what we took home from the previous PDP session in our previous groups. Frances popped in during our private session (boss lady style) and immediately got us smiling. I had just finished sharing my thoughts on how I have improved on my skills since the first PDP session. Sadly I lost audio and had to spend about 6min trying to reconnect which was successful, but then Frances was off to another group. You can go get a refill of your coffee, will wait☺️….we continued on to share ideas on what confidence really means and a business gentleman I like to call Peet , I know I love pet names haha shared his experience when it comes to confidence and how he has been able to improve after the first PDP session. Managing his business back home as an international student, he admitted is not easy especially looking to expand. ‘’Sometimes you meet people who will over shadow your creative thinking but you have to keep your head high and sell your idea’’, that is what all this common good wahala is about I added with our African accent…We agreed there were levels to confidence, and as I have started already in my previous post, we are born confident and leaders, we just have to build on it. A question was brought before the house as to where confidence ends and arrogance begins? We concluded that it has to do with how you project your information. There is always a way we can sell confidence with respect. With that done and you are still perceived as rude or arrogant, then its envy, we agreed. We went on to stating how being culturally and religiously diverse has helped us be better global citizens and demonstrated how we are being active citizens as well. I personally stated my volunteering work to run errands for the elderly in my neighbourhood during this pandemic and other members have equally done selfless gestures #Active and Global citizens. We were reunited to the general main room where we got to share ideas about studying the skills module in general and the struggles of studying online and from home. I must add, it was extremely refreshing speaking to an authority who not only listens, but gives you a sense that we are in this together and we will make it out. In all this session was more than I expected and it’s very unfortunate we only get to have two. We can however have our own PDP sessions in our daily lives, learning and developing every day because every single day is a new opportunity. Stay safe and Stay home FOR THE COMMON GOOD…see what I did there haha #COVID19#COMMON GOOD ATTTRIBUTE.
