PDP 1.0

So last week was our first Personal Development Planning(PDP) session, or as my buddy likes to call it, Time with Frances 😂. This was basically a session to enlighten and get us to think about our life in uni, personal development and the famous common good attributes. To be honest this was one part of the module I was looking forward to mainly because I love personal development seminars and the likes. Will take you through how the day went so get you self some hot tea and prepare to be enlightened 🤓. I got to class fully charged that afternoon for our session. We were randomly grouped for the purpose of interacting with members of the class we hadn’t spoken to before. For a social person like myself, I had spoken to everybody in the class but that was very casual, this time we were gonna communicate for hours. See what we did there, even before the session began, confidence, a common good attribute was in play. My group was a perfect mix of colleagues I talk to on a daily basis and so I was looking forward to sharing experiences. We formally introduced ourselves to each other and proceeded to talk about our life in uni. We shared so many experiences and it was unanimous our most enjoyable part of the uni was meeting new people and learning new cultures and skills. See what we did they again, already global citizens. You might wona refill the hot tea, you know, just in case haha. We all agreed the work load in the uni was very overwhelming and we had to work extra hard on time management to keep up. Am sure you remember my bestie “Time” from my previous post!!!. Moving on, we went on to talk about the common good and how we are developing them. To my surprise, entrepreneurial mind set, a common good attribute was not what I thought it was. Cara, one of my group members enlightened me, explaining it to mean taking a new initiative out of your confront zone to develop one’s self and the society. That got me thinking. I always though entrepreneurial mind set meant setting up a business haha. Apparently I have developed that skill while in GCU. Being here i participated in the climate strike which I feel very proud of. I am not proud because I took part in a strike but rather because I participated in a movement I feel strongly will help the society. While doing so I developed confidence and I knocked on responsible leadership. This was something I would not do a year back. The session ended with C.V writing and what employers look out for in CVs. Ellen Gibson did a fantastic job explaining it all to us. In general I will say this PDP session was a major success and I can’t wait for the next session. I think you are gona need coffee for that haha…ANTICIPATED!!!
